Halfway Through!

This crazy month, and I am still alive. :) Things have been going amazing, all things considering the crazy schedule we have been on. Kids are thriving, and sigh. Things are falling into place.

Matthew had dental surgery. He had to have yet another extraction..this one due to it being a low lying cavity, and them not thinking it was due to save since it was due to fall out in the next few months. He also had his previous crown adjusted, and gasp! He had 2 cavities filled. He did great, and only remembers crying because he was panicking from not being able to swallow.

We go back to have another crown put on in a month or so...enough time so that he doesn't get dentist anxiety. I highly recommend Versed. It worked wonders for him..I wish I could have had some too!

Kate had her cardiologist appointment. She was very apprehensive of having her echo done, and also getting her pulse ox done. The child is speaking up, and doing what she thinks she is supposed to do, by saying no to something she is uncomfortable with...however, these are things that we need her to do. After a lot of serious talks, she followed through with both things.

Her echo reveals the same stenosis she had last year, but it is so small at this point, they are just going to observe her..it would be a long time before she needs intervention, so they will just continue to watch her..if she starts to get SOB, or faints, she may need to have a cath placed in, and her aorta expanded, but they think she will be a success story.  I won't post all the details about her visit, as I know it was good, but I do think she is impressive, and she continues to marvel her cardiologist that she sees now. She is a tall 4 year old, and is lean. No signs of swelling in her lower extremities, her BP is what it is supposed to be..higher below her waist, and lower up top. If it was lower on the bottom, it would indicate her blood is not being pumped adequately below. She has taken on a behavior gasping for air between words when talking to us, and we were a little scared that her lung function was on the low side due to her heart working on overdrive, but her cardiologist states that she has adopted that from another child, and she is fine. So..she can keep gasping between words, and I will relax a bit.

Today is Matthew's 8th birthday party. We are having it at Chuck E. Cheese, (yikes! The germs!) He has always wanted a CEC party, so away we go, and they have a great party plan where he will be treated like a king, so why not. Let's go do this, and then take a long bath after! I kid, in jest. Our CEC is pretty nice, actually. :) Have a great Sunday!
