My kids were meant for me.

Do you ever think that? I mean, I clearly love kids..but I really do think that I was meant to have these exact two. They are getting so close to one another lately, and they love each other sooo soo much. They have this secret relationship that is budding, and they have so many personal jokes between the two of them, and it makes my heart swell. Lately, they want to have sleep overs in Matthew's room, so the past two nights, they have been out and snuggling with eachother. I love it. We asked them tonight if they wanted to just share a room since they are always in eachother's spaces, and they said, "YES!" but we know that won't work long term. A boy needs his space, as does this little nugget of ours.

Tonight we went in search of birthday presents. January is our month of birthdays in the family, we have 5. I ended up finding a present I wanted to get Kate from Walmart for Christmas, but they were always out of it, and they canceled my order on me 5x. I got it for 5.00 less tonight, and she was so stoked! It is a bunch of Disney Princess artwork supplies, that fold into a binder. Tons of stickers, paints, and crayons, coloring pages, and it was only 9.50 on clearance. That can't be beat. I also sprung, and bought her Alphie. He was marked down to 20.00. I had wanted to get her that for Christmas last year, and then her birthday, but we did other things..and my sister had Alphie as a kid, and I have so many fond memories of her playing with him for hours and hours.

Matthew and his teacher worked out a scorecard for him to focus at school. His teacher sets it each day for a certain amount of points she wants him to earn, depending on what the plan for the day is. Most days, it has been about 38 points. This is mostly to help him with listening the first time, etc..he gets bored in class, and does well when he is in small groups, so when it is time for him to go to his reading group, he shines because he is a great reader. Music is also a good one too. What bothers him is math, and sometimes writing. He will start daydreaming, and if he has run out of time, he sometimes needs to finish during his recess, and that really bothers him. So, his teacher made a point card for him, and when he does well, and gets close to...or gets 100% for the day, she adds them up and gives him special tasks, or incentives. Our part of the deal was if he did well, and consistently came home with 100%, we would reward him. This has gone on for about 4 weeks, and we felt it was time to reward him since Christmas had passed, and this would help him focus on starting school again on Monday.

He was very frugal. We didn't give him a dollar amount, but in our heads we were thinking no more than 30-50.00. Yes, that sounds like a lot. But to Mr. Matthew, this has been a major experience for him, we needed to come through, and show him that we knew, and were acknowledging his hard work. So, he couldn't find anything at Target that would work. He didn't know how much we were going to gift him with, but he felt everything he saw was way too expensive. In the end, we went out tonight, he wanted to treat himself to new pajamas. He loves the button down top kind, makes him feel sophisticated, I suppose. He also wanted some Oregon Duck slippers. Like, "fetch me my smoking jacket and slippers type of slippers." He is very much mature in wearing his robe at night, and wanted some slippers to be more "adult like." He was very frugal, and decided that was all he wanted, but wanted to be sure he could get in on Kate's purchases, and share them with her. It was a deal. And, I have a great kid that didn't want to take advantage of his parents. At least tonight. ;)
