From our super secret getaway. Not really a secret, but we sure did feel like we were in the witness protection program, being in a city without children or dogs to take care of. We are so used to living by watching the time, or wondering if we need to get back to feed the dogs, make sure they have been let out, etc..
We went to the beach, and it was super stormy on the ride up there. I had hoped to have left around 2 pm here, but it was about 330 before we left town, getting us there about 6 pm or so. It may have taken longer due to the rain, I can't remember. All I remember was it was super dark when we arrived, and we were confused on where the house was. When our GPS finally kicked back on, it kept telling us we had arrived at our destination, and voila! Indeed! We were there, and hadn't realized it. We ended up finding this great house online. Normally we use VRBO, but this one popped up using plain ol google, and boy was I glad it did. The owner is a fairly new owner, and to advertise, and get people on board, she was offering almost too good to be true discounts on the house, and we snagged it.
It turns out it was the model home for the new development that was being put in, but as we soonly could tell, there is a delay in getting the ground broken, perhaps due to the dip in the economy. There are only about 6 houses built thus far in this 72 home community, so we essentially had the whole neighborhood to ourselves, and it was a fully staged home. There was no detail that was left untouched, and it was fully stocked to whatever we would have needed. We did go to the market, but didn't invest in a lot of food since we had been waiting to try out several places along the coastline, but could never go since it wasn't the best place to take kids, or not being able to afford it. We ate at some of the best places, and had such a great time! It was very stormy at times, but as any true Oregonian knows, we go to the coast to watch a good storm, and we just sit, and watch. We really connected, and it was very much needed. We talked non stop, and on the way home, we joked that we ran out of things to say. :) All in all, a great trip indeed. We want to make this a tradition, and stay again and again..but I am sure we won't ever get those rates again. It was a dream come true. ;) Here are a few pics.
