Not really a lot, but enough to keep us trucking along. Friday of last week we had Matthew's Harvest Carnival at his school. It was a load of fun for him. Since he missed out on being Superman on super hero day, we asked him if he wanted to wear it for the carnival, and he said YES! As it worked out, most kids dressed up that night, and he was in his element.
Each classroom had a different game going on, all being supervised by high school boys. I don't know how all of them agreed to give up their Friday night to work at a elementary school function, but kudos to those kids! And they were really into it too. Matthew got a ton of prizes, and we came home and he crashed hard.
Saturday we got a really late start taking the kids to play in the snow. We had planned on leaving at 10 am, but brother in law had to work the morning shift so we weren't mountain bound until 1 pm. It was late, and I had my doubts that we would actually find snow. Needless to say, we found snow, about 2 hours away, and it was so deep, the swagger wagon wasn't going to make it any further, so we parked, and trekked, and pulled the kids up the mountain on sleds. Kate pleaded and cried the entire way up. She just had the worst time ever. She ended up sitting in a sled watching us race down the hill, over and over. Mike tried taking her down a few times, and she was quiet, but it was clear she is not a snow bunny....yet. Hopefully we can try again soon. We only stayed a couple of hours, and then we headed back. We were frozen solid..so much I worried I was a bad momma with her. Even though she had waterproof layers, she was crying a lot, and I worried that I put her in danger of frost bite. She is fine now..but I had a guilt moment in the car..
Matt loved it, and wont stop talking about how much he loved the snow, and how he can't wait to go back!
Halloween was good. We didn't go to the mall for the very first time, and went door to door. Kate LOVED trick or treating and she shouted thank you to every single door that opened, whether they were giving candy or telling us that they didn't have any. She was a very good sport, and the boys could have learned from her and her great manners. She loved dressing the part, and seeing all of the people, and they really got a haul! We will do it again, and maybe a different neighborhood as there were several no houses that weren't doing candy.
Well, that sums up our weekend! Can't wait to see what the next one brings. :)
