Mom..

Had her drain tubes pulled out yesterday. She is relieved to be free of them, and everything that came with having them. Now her skin can heal, and she can move on. She had a pretty busy day in between seeing her surgeon, and her oncologist. Both had good reports for her. They said that prior to chemo, her tumor was the size of a mandarin orange. (gasp!!) After chemo, and after the surgery, they measured it, and it was shrunk down to a size of a quarter, or a jawbreaker. Her surgeon told her she probably could have taken less breast tissue, but felt that there was too much scar tissue surrounding the tumor area. She felt better safe than sorry since little was known about what was actually near the scar tissue..(more C cells, perhaps?) so she errored on the side of caution over vanity. Mom agrees.

Mom starts radiation shortly after Thanksgiving. She will go 33 times. We aren't going to get a cabin for Christmas. Instead, everyone will be here, and I mean everyone. It will be one fabulous Griswold family Christmas, and I am so excited. I know she is going to be too wiped out to travel, not only that..her sessions can't be interrupted for travel. So eh..it is all good, and we will make sure it is a Christmas to remember.

Mom also got a prescription for a prosthetic breast and bra today from the surgeon. She has to go get fitted for both, (obviously) and when I told her I would buy them for her, she got pretty sentimental. Why wouldn't I buy them for her? She would buy them for me. <3
I just want her to have a stress free Christmas. I keep telling her nobody is expecting her to buy gifts...her being here, and her being as healthy as she is a HUGE gift. She just feels bad she isn't set financially. I would too, but dang..Mom, we LOVE you. Just know we aren't needing anything but YOU being here.
