Is my mom's first day of chemo. She is nervous about it, and well, I would be too. She has to take some medicine tonight to make her not sick or have reactions to the chemo tomorrow, so she is prepared. She went in for some blood work today, and was told she would start today, but she said that she hadn't taken any meds yet, so they postponed it for the morning.
Mom's tumor was seeping since they did the core biopsy on it. Then this past weekend, her tumor started to kinda fall apart a bit. The outside portion of it where the hematoma is, well... it started opening a bit, so Dee took her to the ER. We were afraid it was going to start spreading more or something...the ER sent her home saying they couldn't really do anything for it, and referred her back to her surgeon about it. He said it is fine, and it was bound to happen, and that after her first chemo treatment, he said that the chemo will help dry it up. Seems weird to think that it will actually have that effect, so we will see. Mom is going to go every 3 weeks for 6 sessions, equalling 18 weeks total that this first course of chemo will run. By half way, we should be able to see if the tumor is actually shrinking. Once this portion is done, then they do surgery, and then more chemo/radiation. 18 weeks seems like a LONG time to have this gawd awful tumor still left in her. Please let it go by fast.
She is cutting her hair this weekend, and hopefully I can get some pictures of her hair before it goes.
