So with a lot of thought..(seriously, a lot of thought about whether we should still go) we went to the beach for 5 days. Five glorious (sort of) days. We got there around 6pm on Thursday night. Let me tell ya, it was like walking into a Real World House and being some of the first castmates to get there. We had never rented this house before, only had seen pictures of it, and we had done a drive by once to check it out..WOW! This house was amazing. It must have been built in the 70's, and it had AMAZING wood work throughout the entire home. The layout was amazing. We had 3 bedrooms downstairs as you walk in, a game room, wash room, bathroom, and another room we couldn't figure out what it was for. Upstairs was a HUGE fireplace...a sitting room with a tv, a great big family room, full sized dining room, full size kitchen with it's own fireplace, a couple more bedrooms, and then a master bedroom that I will forever miss because Mike and I got to have it since we had the most people in our crew. The master bath was TO DIE FOR! The tub was like something off of Cribs you would see in a movie stars home..and then there was the huge walk in shower that had 2 showers inside of it. Our room had a separate sitting area, fireplace, walk in closet that was the size of a bedroom (that we will make into a bedroom shall we ever rent this house again) and we had beds for Matt, the dogs, Kate, and still had tons of room to spare. Not saying this was a McMansion or something people and we paid a ton for it..that is what makes this home so amazing. By the time we split it with everyone in our crew, it was cheaper than staying at a Motel 6. And we had a house on the beach shore!
We had some amazing times, amazing memories...I was put on the hotseat by Mike's aunt who basically counseled me with what has been going on. One huge weight lifted off my chest, but sad it consumed most of the night to work through my feelings..we played games, we laughed, we cried a lot about mom...we shopped till we dropped, we walked the beach every day and every night, we bonded, we fell in love even more (Mike and I) we ate, we really ate.....and some of us even got sick at the end. Mike's sister and I bit the dust at the very bitter end. I came down with a fever and sinus infection, her a chest and upper respiratory issue. Sad to get sick, but we raged on with just a few hours of sleep for most of the weekend, and we can say now that we would do it again in a heartbeat. And we will have more people come next time, and we will get this house again if they will have us. Such an amazing time. Now, let's kick this cancer's ass.
