Huge sigh of relief!

We can breathe again for awhile. Katelynn had her 2nd followup cardiac appointment this afternoon, and she is doing wonderful. Her oxygen levels in her feet were at 100%, so you can't get better than that. She had her blood pressure checked, and the legs were at a normal number, also a good thing.

They did an echo of her heart and it looks really good he said. Her aorta repair is showing that it is growing along with her heart, and that the L. ventricle is growing along with the heart as well, even though it is structurally smaller. He said that if it is functioning as it should be, and not overworking itself, then we won't have to worry. He said that the important thing is how well it is functioning, and it is functioning at the rate it should, so we are good. He told me that at this age, the heart works harder than it will her whole life since in the first year, babies double their birth weight, so the fact that it is doing what it is supposed to, that is great!

He said that she still has her VSD, and that they will look at it when she is a year old. If it is still there, then she will always have it. He mentioned that it was just a small stream of blood that is shooting through the hole in between the valves, and he can hardly pick it up on his stethoscope, and when he looked at it, it was very minor. I am so happy!

She did so well that she won't have to go back until around her 1st birthday! I am so happy, and thrilled that she is doing this great. I always have worry about this and that with her, and feel so content. I was filled with so much anxiety the last couple of days with this appointment coming up, and now that we have been there, done that, hopefully I can relax!

She currently weighs 13.6 lbs, and is still 25 inches long, and will be 5 months this weekend. How did that happen so fast?
