Christmas time of year..da da da da da da...
Forgive me as I have the theme song to Christmas Vacation in my head right now. Only 5 more nights until the festivities kick off! We ALWAYS watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on Thanksgiving evening. We started that tradition about 12 years ago and it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it. I am in such a festive mood this evening.
I have just decorated 3 Christmas trees, one being fairly small as it sits on our bar, but still. My hands are so torn up from "fluffing" branches that have been packed away for a whole years time. Yes, I know.."But a real tree is better!" I agree, wholeheartedly. But.....you can't decorate a real tree this early unless it is in a big pot, and we don't have those here..unless you want to pay an insane amount for one anyways. I keep saying but when we move we will get a real tree, but that isn't going to happen for some time. I also said last year we would get a real one for Matthew to go and enjoy the experience of chopping one down and bringing it home, but it isn't going to happen this year.
Yes we are insane and decorate before Thanksgiving. We know alot of people that choose to start decorating their trees on Thanksgiving day, but we don't want to work on that day..we want to enjoy all of the decorations that come with the holidays, and we want to enjoy them now.
So I have about 4 totes empty and about 3 more to go. I have a ton of rearranging to do in the house. Shelves need to be cleared for those Christmas knick-knacks and tables need to be cleared for those pretty linens..and it will happen, in due time. Right now my house is a mess with things just thrown here and there. It was so clean today before we started. A huge feat for me, especially when I have a newborn still.
Matthew had a blast this year decorating the tree. **heart** Oh my. He just loved putting the ornaments on the tree. He called the ornaments jingle bells. Cutie-pie. I just love him. He has no idea mommy got the other tree all decorated as it was late and he needed to go to bed. He will be so surprised in the morning. When I was tucking him in tonight he called to me as I was leaving his room and said: "Don't put the tree back in the bucket tonight, I wanna see it tomorrow!" He calls the totes buckets. I reassured him that the tree will certainly be here tomorrow and he will have nothing to worry over. Can you imagine only putting up a tree for one day? This little guy loves his tree so much.
I will post some pics when we are all done and settled.
