Matthew's first dentist appointment

Was today, and man oh man was I sweating it! I was pretty nervous taking him in, not knowing how he was going to react to everything and all of the invasive things they were going to do to his mouth.
I had been talking it up pretty much the last few days on how much "fun" it was going to be to go see the dentist..and he thought we were going to go see some guy named Dennis when we were talking last night. I was laughing alot at that.
I told him he was going to have all of his teeth checked out and he needs to let the dr clean them and let them stick their fingers in his mouth.
Once we got there today, he was a bit nervous. He was crawling all over the floor in the office, and playing hide and go seek from me..I was not wanting to be mean mommy on the spot, but luckily they called us back in time.
He acted like he was going to sit in the big chair, but then he crawled right back out, so she asked me to hold him on my lap the whole time. He liked getting x-rays, (I hate dental x-rays) and he did fine with the general looky lou stuff. He didn't like getting the tarter scraped off his teeth. It didn't hurt him, he just didn't like that he wasn't in control of what was going on. He hates being held down..who doesn't? LOL!
So the dentist comes in and she is having him look up and down and she is happy to report to us that he has no cavities at all! She had to scrape some built up plaque off his teeth, his canines..but that was it. I had her look at the tooth I thought was a cavity, and she said it wasn't, just plaque. So yay!! We did good! I am so proud of him! We won't need to go back until he is 4 now. I am so happy!
Here is a picture of my happy boy.
