Race for the Cure, 2012

We did the annual Race for the Cure again this year. This marks the 3rd year that we have had the chapter be a part of our town, and my 2nd, being able to be a part of it. Boy, was it a rainy weekend! We knew it would be too, but we knew that wasn't going to keep us from being able to participate. There was a lack of attendance down from last year, and I can't help but wonder if it was due to weather, or the Planned Parenthood backlash, but the turn out was still pretty good.

We opted to do the 5K once again. Mom isn't a runner, and I can't run yet with the ol knee still being in limbo, so we did the walk. It was fun, it was wet, and it was COLD. Nevertheless, it was a great time, and it felt great to walk, to get some exercise, and be a part of something so incredible. I got teary when my mom came across the finish line. I realize all of the time how incredibly lucky we are that she is still here with us, and how important it was for her to come across that line as a survivor. I love my mother, and I am so proud ot be her daughter. xoxo
