We got a wild hair last week and decided we HAD to leave the house for the long weekend, as a last summer hurrah what have you. So the mission became, "Where do we go?" We finally decided on the mountains. Then it became where in the HECK do we stay, and where can we find on this short of notice that will take pets? We can't go to the mountains, and not take our furbabies. We finally found a quaint cabin, in the middle of nowhere, and when I say nowhere, I mean nowhere. It was heavenly!!!
We didn't have to wait for anyone to check out, so she said we could check in as early as we wanted. So I was ready to go at 6am the morning of. It took about 3.5 hours to get there, and man were we so happy to find it. It was so perfect for us.
We went up the mountain and did some sledding. During the summer months, when the snow is all be melted, they have sled-sliding. It was so much fun! You ride the ski lifts up, and then slide all of the way down, on a board with wheels. Then we did some zip-lining, and bungee jumping! I am a little bit of a thrill seeker when it comes to thrill rides, but purposely putting my life at risk was a little different. LOL! To be told to just walk off the platform (to zip) was like, huh? How do I just step off, and not die? Climbing the several flights of stairs to the top of the bungee tower was the single most heart pounding experience of my life. Well, at least one of the times. It doesn't compare to anything you have ever, ever done. I was gripping each and every handle bar I could reach. They check your harness at least 5 times before sending you to your death so that makes you feel safer, but man oh man. I went before Mike both times, and the bungee jumping was just exhilarating! It all happens so fast, and before you know it, you are landing safe, but for that moment you are free falling, time stands still. I am going to try to post videos. Describing it does nothing compared to seeing it.
The next day it was all we could do to climb out of bed. Every single muscle ached. It was quite comical. It felt like I had a c-section all over again. As a matter of fact, my scar was even aching. YE---ouch! Jumping to our deaths really did our muscles over one. But man oh man, it was worth it. We kept it low key all day, and relaxed and relaxed. Went and got pizza and beer later, and relaxed some more. It was the first time in a long time that I have come back feeling this relaxed from a trip. Normally it is all me that is running around like a chicken with her head cut off, making sure everyone is content. I did that this time too, but when I wanted a nap, I took it. When momma wanted alone time, I took it. And man was it good. :)
