Friday I got off work early so Mike and I hit up the river (alone!) to get a few casts out to see if we could catch anything. The only thing we caught were our lines on trees, shrubs, and rocks..we spent more time unhooking ourselves then anything, so we gave up and went and got the kids. I made enchiladas and margaritas and then we all ate outside under the hot sun. It was perfect. We made a fire, and we just enjoyed the night. Saturday was a little of more of the same. We ran a couple of errands in the daytime..then had people over again for dinner, and a fire. I had such a great time just relaxing in the yard, taking in the nice fresh air. Matthew ended up falling asleep on the hammock that night, and had to be carried in to bed. He was in his element. :) I feel like I spent more time with the kids this weekend then we have in a long time. It is amazing what staying at home having fun is like vs driving somewhere to have fun.
Sunday we were up early, (thanks, Kate!) and were out at the lake by 10am, and were in the fishing boat rowing to that sweet spot where I caught 5 fish, Mike caught 2, and Dee caught 3. Not bad for her considering her saying the thought of fishing sounded so completely appealing. LOL! I had to beg her to come so she could enjoy the dock and a book..and then she decides what the hell, and she fishes and catches 3 of them. Good stuff.
I got so sun burnt! I had sunblock on if you can believe it, but obviously not enough. Admittingly I wanted to blend in my farmer's tan so I wore a tank on purpose, but I didn't anticipate getting this badly burnt with the 70 degree weather we had. I am so crispy! I am hoping tomorrow is better as today I had to take a cold shower since just warm water was too unbearable on the skin. Definitely staying out of the sun for at least a good week or two, or until this heals.
