I don't think I posted yet about his party. Saturday was his official birthday but we stayed very low key. We stayed in jammies and ate waffles and all lounged and napped the day away...per his instructions. LOL! We let him open our presents to him throughout the day...his favorite from us ended up being this inflatable roller. You blow it up and its a pretty good size. There are 2 handles on the inside for the kids to hold on to, and you just roll them around everywhere..almost like a rolling barrel. Too fun! Can't wait to see it in action on the beach.
Later that night we took the kids to dinner at Hometown, and I asked Matt what it felt like to finally be five, and his response was.."Like I am a REAL MAN!" Too funny! After dinner we took them to the indoor mall playground where they worked off their calories, and both were spent by the time we pulled in the driveway. Mike and I then decided to tackle his Wubbzy cake, and worked on it until 2 in the morning since the sucker took forever to cool down, but it turned out pretty good!
Sunday was his party day and boy did he wake up ready for it. He was so compliant and was ready to get in the car that he was telling us to hurry up. Once we got there, we saw that they had roped off the big section all for us, and I kinda felt guilty since it took people forever to show and here we had this big ol party section, but it was nice and private and worked out great in the end. He ended up with some very nice lovely gifts, and all of the kids were so happy to have come. He was so polite and hugged everyone and thanked everyone personally. I felt so proud of him! The party was great, and everyone helped clean up. It was so nice to come home to a clean house!
To top everything off, he lost his 2nd tooth last night. He is getting so big, and is growing so fast! I am teaching him to read, and by golly by end of summer, we hope to be doing good with simple words. He has a hard time settling in for quiet time, so I am hoping that we are gearing him up for school in the fall.
At his 5 year well check...well, they call it a physical now, he did great with everything, but "failed" (hate that word..so negative) his eye exam so we are seeing an eye dr next week to make sure. The mama bear in me doesn't like that we have to go, but we will see what happens. Has been a busy week!

I can't believe our babies are 5! It seems like just not that long ago we were all posting over at CS in the DIA board!! Matthew sounds like a great kid, and I am glad he had a great birthday. Hopefully his eye exam turns out ok.
