WTGrow Katelynn!!

Katelynn had her one year well check today, and she did sooo good! We got there about 5 minutes late, (darn parking structure!) and then the appointment lasted almost 2 hours. I was spent. I don't know why it took that long. Her ped is very chatty, which...well, I totally love. I felt I was rushing him at times, and had to slow myself down. Have I mentioned how cute he is? Shew! He is super adorable.

So she is doing great, weighs 19.6 lbs, and is 28.5 inches long. He is very, very pleased with her growing, and the fact that she gained a lb and a half since being weighed a month ago is outstanding.

She is right on target with her development too. He was thrilled to hear about her healthy appetite. :)

She ended the appointment with getting 5 shots! She got: flu, chicken pox, dtap, MMR, and pneumonia. Poor thing! We had to hold her down as she wasn't having it. Of course, what baby enjoys shots? She was cool once it was time to go. Her dr came back into the room to also help comfort her once he knew she was done getting the shots. Sooo nice!

The cool part was the medical assistant that checked us in and did her vitals was a girl from my clinicals class from last term. She is doing her externship now, and said she loves it there. She was worried I wouldn't want her to do K's vitals, but quite the opposite. I would rather it be from someone I know, and trust! She didn't do her shots though, and that was fine with me. I would rather the nurse do it, until she has more experience.

Katelynn is doing great after her shots. Normally she reacts to them..extreme fussiness for 2 days after, spikes a fever, acts almost like she has been given roofies..but so far, so good! I gave her Motrin as soon as we got home.

We go back in about a month for the H1N1 vaccine if we want it. I am on the fence.

Oh, and her Dr said that he wants her to face backwards for another year. I think we will keep her facing that way for a long time. I am not ready for her to face forward..she is too little! He said the the peds are trying to pass a law in OR to have it be mandatory to face backwards until kids are 2. I can see why..whiplash can be so devastating to their little necks.
Thats all for today!
