On Friday..

Katelynn had her 4 month checkup. She now weighs 12 lbs, 10 oz. Still a peanut, according to her ped, but she is steadily growing without any dips at all on the percentile charts, so he is happy, and so are we. She is hanging at a steady 25th percentile. She got her shots, which btw have made her extremely irritable this go around. Last time she got her shots, she was very, very tired and slept the whole day and night away. This time, she got very fussy, and a fever that reoccurred after her Tylenol ran its course, so she had to be given 3 doses of Tylenol that didn't seem to help her. Poor little thing! It is crazy just how different very same series of shots effected her this time. She is better now, but Friday evening was no picnic. We were up several times in the night with a wailing baby that wouldn't and couldn't settle.

I asked about her color because depending on the time of day, the lighting, etc, she can look very pale..almost albino. They ran a little heal prick test to check her iron, and she is fine. No anemia, just really fair skin. So different from Matthew. That boy looks like he has been in a tanning bed at any given time of the day. Don't I wish I had his color. He got his daddy's skin for sure!

Dr also listened to her heart, and murmur is still present..(darn-it!) He reminded me that 50% of kids can have a murmur, and not to worry. Hard not to. Dr also looked at her head..no torticollis, no flat spots..said we are doing great on tummy time (should be doing more) and said that she should be rolling over anytime.

She hadn't seen him since her voice had returned, so when he laid her on her back to check her hips, she really belted out a garble garble to him that took him by surprise. He was really happy to hear her voice and looks forward to what her cardiologists have to say next month when we go and see them.

He thinks that her little bit of heavy breathing/hoarseness we are hearing is a result of a little acid reflux that has irritated her airway the reason she sounds breathy sometimes. I think we agree with him because I have heard the liquid gurgle up her throat sometimes when I hold her. Since she isn't a spitty baby, we don't need to take anything for it now.

So we got the go ahead for cereal next month. I don't know that we will. I think we will wait until the 6 month mark when I know she will be more ready to take it. I can't believe we are already talking about solids! Crazy!
