I am so glad it is over, but sad that Mike has to go back to work already. Friday night we just hung out at home with just us and we played some board games. Mike put together the present that Mike's mom got for Matthew and I watched him. LOL! She got him one of those Power Wheels trucks. I am so super jealous that Matthew has something like this..I wanted one so bad when I was younger. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he sees it on Christmas morning.
Saturday we went and saw Santa. OMG, that was such a task. I am so glad it is over with and we don't have to do it for a whole year. I got both kids ready in record time and we drove over to the mall that is a bit further away..(they have a better Santa) and as soon as we got there, they informed us Santa was taking his break and would be back in a hour and a half. NO!!!
So we decided we could hang out at the mall for that long and just wait and get it over with. We went and ate at the food court and ran into Santa there! It was cool though because no one bugged him at all..as if it was an omen not to as he is so busy.
We went to Build A Bear and let Matthew build his very first stuffed toy. He chose the reindeer, or is it a moose? Anyways, he has a strand of lights that light up across his antlers and he is pretty cute. Matthew named him Moose A. Moose. LOL!
Then we decided to wait in line and that is when Kate got really fussy. Suddenly we were the typical stereotyped family waiting in line to see Santa. We had the little boy that was hyper, the baby that wouldn't stop crying..(she never fusses!) and we were just grumpy. I went to sit down for a bit and Kate spit up all over her dress and me..(she never spits up!) so we went to the bathroom and cleaned up. By the time I caught up with Mike again, she spit up again. MAN! So we cleaned up and got back in line..poor little toot smelled icky from her milk on her neck and dress..and Santa was a trooper. He was really great with both kids. He just loved holding her, and he talked alot with Matthew.
Matthew had brought along a little gift box that he stuffed with Little People and also mega blocks to "give to Santa." Isn't that cute? He was so adamant that he needed to bring Santa a present. I didn't want Santa to be in an awkward position of telling him he couldn't take it, so I just held it and by the time Matthew was on his lap, he had forgot all about it.
Matthew told Santa he wanted a play kitchen (score!) and then Santa asked what else he wanted and he said he wanted "play food." Now I can't give him credit for thinking of that on his own..I had asked him when he said he was going to ask for the kitchen if he should get some play food with it, and he said yes..
After we were done and Matthew got his sucker, he and Santa were old pals. He kept shouting and waving at Santa to see him and he even ran back to ask him another question even though Santa was obviously busy with other kids by then. I was excited that Matthew wasn't scared of him, and felt so at ease to be able to talk to him and carry on a really good conversation.
Today I ran some early morning errands to prepare us for the snow we are, or not getting. It keeps starting to snow and then stops. Hmmm. Then we cleaned and hung out the rest of the day. I am beat!
