Well, I was going to type about how great of a day we had here, and how much Matthew loved Great America, but check this out! We got back to the room and I had planned on giving him a bath to warm him up as it is FREEZING here compared to where we live, and his poor little hands were like ice! The tub lever you pull in the tub must have broken, so we decided it was me that was going to take a shower with him.
So then Mike and Dee took off to get groceries while my mom and I stayed here. Not 5 minutes after we got out of the shower and dressed each other, a firetruck came blaring into the hotel parking lot and I was like WTH is going on? I told my mom if it was anything we needed to worry about, the alarm would be sounding..well….
All of a sudden the alarm started to blare, and we have speakers in our room that allows the announcement to come across, and the recorded message was telling us to “Evacuate the building, DO NOT use the elevators!” And this message repeated over and over..so here it is 9:45 at night, my mom and I here with Matthew and we have to race down 12 flights of stairs! OMG! I was sooo scared. So many parents had just ripped off the blankets off the bed and wrapped their kids in them since it was so cold, and most of them were already in bed for the night, or had got out of the pool..
I was trying to call Mike and Dee to say get here quick! We were allowed back into our rooms within about a half of an hour…there are over 700 rooms here, so imagine the crowd of people outside trying to figure out what was going on..Mike and Dee finally got to us, but it was scary having to do that alone, and without the other half of your family. And yeah…my legs hurt pretty bad now. I have never ran down those many flights of stairs that fast in my life, and not with a child in my arms either. WHEW! Let’s hope tomorrow is a better day!
