Went off without a hitch. We had a fabulous time, and it was over by 7:30. We won! I had it scheduled from 5-8, and we had plenty of time. We were able to go with the flow, and everything worked out perfect. I love it when that happens. We had expected about 20 people, and had a little less than that, or maybe we did have that many, it was hard to tell. It was the perfect amount of people.
Katelynn got a ton of great gifts. I don't even know what she can possibly need come Christmastime. She is set for a long time. She got a push stroller that holds a baby, that is essentially a walker, and we thought it would take her a few weeks to get used to it, but nope, she had it mastered by the next day, and has been cruising all over the house. She even knows how to stop it, and turn it if she walks it into a wall. Smart girl!
When it came time for the cake to be rolled out, I thought I would cry, but I didn't. I held myself together pretty good. It helped having the people that love her there, and with everyone taping it with their cell phones, I guess I didn't want to look like a sissy! LOL!
She did pretty good with her smashie cake. She was very delicate with it, and didn't want to make a big mess. We had to keep encouraging her to dive in! She had had one nap before the party started, and by the time everyone but the immediate family left, I took her in to my room for some mamma and baby time, and she passed.out.cold. She was down for the count. I decided to jammie her up, and put her in her cribbie, that way she could stretch out, and crash. She woke about a half of an hour later, in tears. I guess it was just one of those kinds of days. She was probably having dreams about everything that had happened all in one day. She did a quick scan of all of her loot, and then she went back down for the count.
She did wonderful for all of the commotion that was going on. She didn't fuss once, not one tear about all of the people in our house, and she LOVED everyone singing to her. What a ham!
All in all, a fabulous day. I couldn't have asked for a better first birthday for her. Pics to come!
